I was totally shocked because of her crushing words. In those few seconds my heart was crushed like shattered pieces of a mirror, but I knew I couldn’t put those pieces together. I kept thinking to myself…

Is she serious?

 Friends?

 Really?

 How in the world is that supposed to happen?

 Once you’ve got feelings towards someone you can't just easily be friends with them if your break up. That's like water and electricity; Pour water over it and it will turn into a complete disaster!!

I finally gave up after thinking for a while.

7amdan: I know I haven’t been spending a lot of time with you lately and that I haven’t been completely fair with you, but we can't be friends. People who were lovers in the past can't be friends together after a relationship, and I'm sure you don’t want us to stay together. I can't do anything about it, because I want us to be together, but I don’t want to force you. Relationships become a success if both people are working to keep it strong, but if one of them isn’t interested they should just leave each other.

Reem: I understand. You're actually right. It would be freakishly awkward if we were "just friends".

After a long talk I was in a state of shock of course you can't get over things so fast. So I headed home and threw myself on the bed & started thinking for a few moments. I then remembered that I had pictures of us together so I went through my picture folders and deleted all the pictures so they don’t bring back *bad memories*.

All you girls & guys out there.

It's not "logical" if you fall in love that easily!! 

Of course the relationship won't last I mean come on it's like watching Cinderella

For those who truly believe in that, well I hope you wake up from your dream soon, because reality will hit you in the face!!

You have to know each other REALLY well for a relationship to work out. You should be able to answer at least every single question someone asks you about the person you love, and you should spend a lot of your time with that person because you never know if a day will come and that person will be gone.

Your true lover is out there somewhere, but don't be stupid like Cinderella.

I called 7amdan and asked him if we could get together somewhere, and he approved. We decided to meet at Costa on Shaikh Zayed road. I went there fifteen minutes earlier than the timing we had agreed on, so I could sit alone and think for a while about what I wanted to say, how I should start, and hoped it wouldn’t end imperfectly.

The time flew and reached its desired destination as the hour 7amdan and I decided on approached.

I was sitting at the table waiting as I drank my hot Mocha. My heart was beating so fast. I was a little nervous because of what is about to happen. I kept staring at the entrance till he arrived with a smile on his face that lit up the world. I ignored my inner thoughts and feelings. I wanted this to be over. I put my hand up so he could see where I was, and he came and sat on the chair facing me.

7amdan: Eslaam 3laaich

Reem: w 3laikom esalam

7amdan: Sh5barch Reemooh?

Reem: B5air el 7mdellah

You probably know the normal questions u usually ask someone when you meet up with them somewhere. I don’t need to continue.

After that was over, he asked me why I wanted to see him and I replied: "Well 7amdan, I know our relationship started off amazing, but everything has flipped 180 degrees right now and I don’t want to stay this way. I'm sorry to tell you this, but 7amdan I don’t want to be your girlfriend anymore. I just want us to be college friends like we used to be.

I told them all the details about what I went through, and all the feelings that provoked me! I even told them how our relationship was so they'd understand how I felt; 7amdan & I started awkwardly, and aren't together at all times unlike other couples.


Reem: So what do you think I should do about it?

F6amy: Yeah I agree, and if there wasn't any progress, then honey u guys aren’t supposed to be together.

One week later






Final exams are over now and my relationship with 7amdan remained as it was. In fact, as much as I wanted to be with him before, I now wish I never was his girlfriend. I thought that his studies were distracting him but, he became a different person than the person he was at the start. He began avoiding me. I didn’t do anything to hurt or upset him, so I don’t understand why he has turned into such a hypocritical.






My heart was crushed as an ant under a stampede. The man I thought would be in my future has turned me upside down. I ignored all the feelings of anger, hatred, cruelty, and much more inside of me. Later on, I decided I had to face him, and end this aimless relationship.

Ok so now I’ll start writing what previously happened because some readers tell me they don’t quite remember and have to reread the previous parts =P !! Sapej, FJ this goes to u (K) !!

Previously

I got up and changed my clothes to leave to have dinner with my sister at Friday's on Jumeirah Road. We picked up Maitha on the way, since she lived nearby. We reached the restaurant and sat at the table we had reserved previously. We all ordered whatever we wanted to eat and drink, and then began to chat. That is when we noticed someone staring at us with a weird look….

It was 7amdan <3!

I usually text him on bbm to tell him whenever I'm going out, but this time I forgot. I'm guessing he's a bit mad about it, but its okay I'm sure he'll let it pass. It's not like I ask him if I can go out. I just tell him that I am going out, and where I'll be.

He immediately texted me since he was disturbed about the fact that I forgot to tell him. I apologized, and he forgave me. It's the first time I've ever done something that got him annoyed. I'm new at this stuff, and I'm still not used to it.

So the dinner went perfectly, although I couldn't eat comfortably. I have this thing where I get so shy and I don’t like to eat when there's a guy looking at me, whether I know him or not.

Later that night

My phone rang and it was 7amdan.

Reem: Hi... How are you doing?

7amdan: Good el 7emdellah, and you?

Reem: I'm good. By the way I'm sorry about today it completely was out of my mind. I totally forgot!

7amdan: it's ok. It's not a big deal after all.

Reem: So how was your day?

7amdan: Great, but nothing major except when I saw you. I'm so glad I did. It's been a while.

Reem: Yeah I know. You know how it is in university. Study! Study! Study! Especially with the final exams coming up soon!

7amdan: Yeah I understand. Thank god it's my last semester! Good luck in your exams.

Reem: I'll miss seeing you around the university. Good luck to you too.

7amdan: Yeah I'll be missing that too. Thanks.

Reem: Anytime… Listen 7amdan I'm so tired I have to go to bed now, ok?

7amdan: Yeah sure, I'll be going to bed too. Goodnight 7abeeebty. I love you.

Reem: Goodnight. I love you too.

I hung up and started to think about him for a while. It's weird how all this happened so fast.  I feel like I'm living in a dream! I fell asleep unexpectedly, and because of all those thoughts I dreamt about him. I bet you're all thinking that I enjoyed it since I'm deeply in love with him, but I wasn't satisfied with the dream at all! It was a bad dream about him; just about a nightmare! 7amdan and I aren't as close as we were as friends.

I dreamt that he was unfaithful to me…….

I woke up with mixed up expressions al l over my face, and I tried to ignore all the thoughts that were scrambled up in my mind, but I couldn’t help it. It was truly vexing me!

You might think that I'm going crazy, but trust me if you were in my place you'd start to wonder whether it's all true or not. I was hesitating; I didn’t know what to do. I called up two of my friends for advice, and joined them in a conference. I always ask them when I need advice with relationships.

Reem: Hala 7amdooh. Sh5barch? I missed you a lot! It's been a while since I've seen you around university.

7amda: I'm good wallah w I missed you more! Yeah I know. University sucks! I miss high school!

Reem: Yeah me too. Listen I'll add F6amy to the conversation.

7amda: Sure, I'll hold.

Fa6ma: Hala Reemooh. Keefoo?

Reem: B5air el7emdellah. W enty?

Fa6ma: I'm good.

Reem (whispering to Maitha & Meera): Oh my god! It's M7mad!
M7amad: Hello??
Reem: Hi. How are you?
M7amad: Good el7emdellah, and u?
Reem: I'm good. So why did you call? And where did you get my number from?
M7amad: I got it from your friend Fa6ma. I just wanted to tell you that Professor Jacob put you as my homework partner for the last assignment, so where should we meet up?
Reem: Oh okay. Umm… How about the university's food court? I'll meet you after class and discuss it with u.
M7amad: Sure. That's great! Ok then I'll be hanging up now. Take care. Bye
Reem: You too. Bye
Back to the girls
Reem: Ok so now I'm his homework partner for the next assignment!
Maitha: That sucks!
Reem: Yeah I know, but I'll just have to deal with it for the sake of my studies.
Meera: Let's go get some Frozen Yogurt I've been craving for some for a long time, and they just opened a new place by the cinema. We could grab some and then go watch a movie.
Reem: Lead the way!






We went up to the cinema area while we were laughing at Maitha's silliness, and as we walked in we grabbed some cups and filled it with the plain frozen yogurt and topped it with various toppings. The place was like frozen yogurt heaven! Then, we sat down and ate quietly when suddenly a paper flew in front of our eyes. I looked to see where it came from and saw Rashed "The high school flirt" standing there bursting into laughter. I excused myself and walked up to him.




Rashed: Halla eb Reem shai5at el 7reem
Reem: enta matest7y 3awyhek?! What if it poked our eyes!
Rashed (laughing): Can't a guy see a little action?
Reem (pointing to the cinema sign on her right): The cinema is there! Ethlef 3n wyhe bl zain w seer shooflek film dam enk tba action!
Rashed: A39aabech! Fine I'm leaving, Bye w salme 3la ely wyach (winking)




I had this feeling where I was so mad that I felt as if my head was burning in flames. This guy has been driving me crazy since we were in high school! I went back to sit with my friends, they tried to calm me down and it worked. Meera bought these huge glasses that were bigger than her face. She took them out of the bag and put them on to make me laugh. We all were tearing up because we laughed so much!




After having a great time together, we all left and went back to our homes. As I got up to my room I tossed everything on my bed and then remembered I've got finals coming up so I got my books and papers organized and started to read through them. I was extremely tired that I could barely open my eyes; I fell asleep without feeling it!




Next Day, Sunday Morning




I woke up from vibrates of my phone that was next to me. I realized that I had fallen asleep last night while I was studying. I then took a look at the time on my phone, and jumped out of bed so fast! Oh my god! I can't believe I overslept! My class starts now! I ran to the bathroom, had a quick shower, got dressed, and left the house.






I arrived at university 15 minutes late, so I ran to class. As I entered the hall, all eyes were on me confused because I was so late. I'm usually one of the students who arrive before the professor.




Professor Jacob: Reem why are you so late?
Reem: I'm so sorry professor, but I overslept!
Professor Jacob: You're allowed to join your colleagues, but I will have to consider university policies and put an absent mark next to your name on the attendance sheet.
Reem: Thank you so much professor!




I was a little mad because he had to write that I was absent, but after all it is my fault. I ignored all the negative feelings inside me, and listened to what he was explaining.


After class I met up with M7amad at the university's food court, so we could do the homework Professor Jacob had assigned today. We got ourselves our favorite drinks from Starbucks, and then sat down to start with the work. Following the homework, M7amad explained everything the professor discussed before I arrived.
After a tiring time at university, I went home to rest for an hour so I could go out in the evening.






After the nap

I don't know anyone whose name starts with "J"! Who could it possibly be?! I drove home fast and rushed to my room before anyone could see me. I then sat on my bed and opened the wrapped box and it read "Sugar Daddy's Bakery". My mind was full of thoughts; I was so confused! The box had cupcakes in it with hearts drawn all over them. Curiosity was killing me! What kind of mysterious lover sends a box of cupcakes to the person they love?!?!!!
I then heard someone knocking on the door, so I opened it. It was my brother, Zayed.
Zayed: Mr7baa bl 7beeb, ana jahez yalla goom bn6la3
7amdan (winking): Zayed laish mtksh5 hel kthr? Going on a date?
Zayed (acting innocent): Mashay wallah, sayr ashoof el 7abeeba "JooJoo" laish b3ad! 7amdan: Jwaher ha? Zayed: Yup! By the way she told me she saw ur car when she passed by the park, she was supposed to give me them when she sees me but she changed her mind and decided to leave it on ur car in case she couldn't. 7amdan: Good thing u told me! I was so curious! She signed the card J and there isn't a name to say who its for, and I also couldn't think of a name. Zayed: Hahaay a7san! El mhm yalla nseer, I dun wanna be late.
Zayed and I really look alike to the extent that sometimes people mix up between us. They had to look at the eyes to know who it was. His eyes were dark brown, where as mine were hazel. Anyway, we got in my car and drove off to Dubai Mall. As we got there I parked in the Fashion Avenue parking and we headed towards Fauchon cafè. I called my friend A7mad to join me, since Zayed was going to leave me alone so he could see Jwaher.

15 minutes later .... 8:30 pm

7amdan: 7ayallaah Bu sh'haab! Wainek mn zman A7mad: Mwjood bs t3rf el drasa thab7tneh hel ayam, 5a9tan cz I'm in my last year. 7amdan: Bl twfeej enshallah!

We started talking about college life, work, and a lot of random things. A7mad is my high school friend. We were the most popular guys at school. He almost had the same looks, but there were slight differences. He had chocolate brown hair and dark brown eyes, unlike me.
Moments later, I felt as if I was being watched and looked around.



Back to Reem's Perspective

I was walking around Dubai Mall... Fashion Avenue to be exact, and that's when I spotted a familiar face down in Fauchon cafè. It was 7amdan. I quickly texted him so he could look up but he already did before I could tell him. I still texted him, and typed "Spotted you ;)" 7amdan: Reemooh sho tsween hnee? :p Bs 9dfa 7lwa ;) Reem: Nothing much. Change of scenery and I came to meet up with Maithaneh. 7amdan: Ooow enzain nzlee mree 9obna plz (A) Aba ashoofch ;) Reem: Shftne elyom mashbaa3t :P?! 7amdan: La w mst7eel hel shay! Reem: 5la9 3shan 5a6erk bmr twice, and bseer :P 7amdan: Ok 7ubii, I'm waiting..

I went down the escalator that's in the middle of Armani cafè and Fauchon cafè, and passed next to Fauchon, then went back towards Ralph Lauren so I could see him, and then head to the Ice rink area. He looked so adorable in his Armani Polo shirt and jeans. Although I didn't like seeing guys in polo shirts, 7amdan was different! I could accept everything that I didn't like if it was from him.
I was too busy texting, so I didn't watch out for what was in front of me. Blackberry addiction, I bet you all know how it is!!
Maitha: Reemooh watch out!

Seconds later, I saw myself on the ground I looked up to see what I hit. I was so confused. It looked like 7amdan, but how come? He was just at the cafè and his nickname isn't updated yet! Maitha was laughing at me cz she thought it was him too. She knew how awkward it would be for me, but she still helped me get up.
Reem: Huh? 7amdan?! How did u get here so fast?!
The guy started laughing as if I told him a joke. At this moment, I felt mad! Why was he laughing? There's absolutely nothing funny about it, it happens to a lot of people!
Guy: Hahaha, shaklech 7amdan's girlfriend, Reem. Am I right? Reem: Yah, but what do you mean by "7amdan's girlfriend"? Zayed: I'm not 7amdan. I'm his brother, Zayed. We look alike I know; many of our friends can't tell us apart.
Reem (whispering to Maitha): Awaih! Yal Fshlaa! Ma a9adg eni t7raiteh 7amdan!
Zayed (starting to freak out): Why are you girls staring at me?
Reem: Were trying to spot the differences between you and your brother. Maitha: I found out! It's the eyes! Look clearly. Reem: Haih 9dgech... 7amdan's are hazel. Zayed: Zain yom enkom 3rftow... yalla bseer ana 7amdan ytryane w wray emt7an bachr.. I came here for a short break. Reem: Good luck w salem 3laih.


He walked away as we kept staring unbelievably. It was something weird. It was as if he and 7amdan were twins!
We went to Cafè Nero by the ice rink so we could meet up with Meera. As we were waiting, we noticed M7amad passing by.
Maitha: Uff! What's with this guy! It's as if he's stalking us! Reem: Haih wallah a7s feech. A7s 5laa9 malait mn kthr mashoofeh!

(Meera enters the cafè)

Meera: Hi... How are you guys doing? Reem & Maitha: Great. Meera: Shfeekom mbwzeen chna yahal sa7been 3nhom 7alaawa?! Maitha: Mashay shefna wayh mab'3aineh nshoofeh Meera: Lemme guess... M7amad? Reem: Akeed, mno '3aireh y3nee?

Maitha used to like M7amad when were freshmen, but he didn't know about it because they weren't in the same university. He was the first guy she liked so much, so it was hard for her too see him. He sometimes hangs out with me and Fa6amy at university, and that's how Maitha first saw him.
M7amad wasn't that cute. He was just normal.

She then got over her feelings, since she knew it was impossible for her to talk to a guy. It's just no the way she is. Meera and I were the only ones who knew about it.
Meera: Ma3laich mneh... ignore and life goes on! Be cool ya5ee hahaha Maitha: Yah I know; I do ignore, but you know it bothers me whenever I see him. Reem: Methl magalat Meerooh... 6aaaf w tam'6ee el 7ayaah!
Maitha (hugging us): A7ebkom wallah!
Reem & Meera (Blinking innocently): n3aarf a9lan
Maitha: Malaat! Mshkela ely y9dgoon 3marhom bsr3a!

Rashed Al Majed's song "El Mw3d El '9aye3" played as my phone began to ring. I looked at the screen before I answered. A familiar number flashed on the screen. I showed it to Maitha and Meera, and they said it seemed familiar to them too!
I answered to see who it was... It was a familiar voice...
